Engineering field is one of the field with the best paying jobs all over the world.
Most people has a negative attitude towards engineering courses, they think engineering is for the intelligent only little do they know that anyone willing to sacrifice can become a very good engineer.
It's my hope that before you start on reading the content below you have a positive attitude towards engineering.

Civil engineering
Civil engineers deal with infrastructures and constructions such as roads , buildings , bridges , dams . Civil engineering mainly deals with the built environment. The field of civil engineering is divided into environmental engineering and structural engineering. In Kenya to pursue a course in civil engineering you need to at least have a minimum grade of C+. Universities offering these courses are:
Electrical and electronic engineering
Electrical engineers develop,design,test and supervise the manufacture of electrical equipment, such as electric motors radar and navigation systems, electric motors, communications systems, or power generation equipment.
To pursue this course in Kenya you need to get a KCSE Mean grade B- (minus) and mean grade for the total score in the four JAB cluster subjects of at lest B (plain) and the following minimum grades in the individual luster subjects: Mathematics C+, Physics C+, Chemistry C+, Geography or Biology, or group III or any group IV.
Mechanical engineering
This is a branch of engineering which combines physics and mathematical principle and material science knowledge to design ,analyze, manufacture and maintain Mechanical Systems.
To pursue this course in Kenya you need a ;
Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education Mean grade B- (minus) and mean grade for the total score in the four JAB cluster subjects of at lest B (plain) and the following minimum grades in the individual luster subjects: Mathematics C+, Physics C+, Chemistry C+, Geography or Biology, or group III or any group IV.
Software Engineering
Requirements to pursue this course are;
Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education Mean grade B- (minus) and mean grade for the total score in the four JAB cluster subjects of at lest B (plain) and the following minimum grades in the individual luster subjects: Mathematics C+, Physics C+, Chemistry C+, Geography or Biology, or group III or any group IV.
Agricultural Engineering
This is the Engineering of Agricultural Engineering Production and Processing. It combines the disciplines of Civil,Mechanical Electrical ,Food science and Chemical Engineering Principles with a knowledge of Agricultural Principles according to technological principles.
Requirements to pursue this course are;
Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education Mean grade B- (minus) and mean grade for the total score in the four JAB cluster subjects of at lest B (plain) and the following minimum grades in the individual luster subjects: Mathematics C+, Physics C+, Chemistry C+, Geography or Biology, or group III or any group IV.
Aerospace Engineering
Aerospace engineering is the primary field of engineering concerned with the development of aircraft and spacecraft.
Aerospace Engineering has two major and overlapping branches:
•aeronautical engineering
•astronautical engineering.
•Aeronautical Engineering
Aeronautical engineering mostly deal with Aircraft design among other activities highlighted below.
Aeronautical engineers work with aircraft. They are involved primarily in designing aircraft and propulsion systems and in studying the aerodynamic performance of aircraft and construction materials. They work with the theory, technology, and practice of flight within the Earth's atmosphere.
•Astronautical engineering.
Astronautical engineering mainly deal with the science and technology of spacecraft and how they perform inside and outside the Earth's atmosphere.
Note:
Aeronautical and astronautical engineers face different environmental and operational issues in designing aircraft and spacecraft.
Requirements to pursue this course are;
Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education Mean grade A-(minus) and mean grade for the total score in the four JAB cluster subjects of at lest B+ (plus) and the following minimum grades in the individual luster subjects: Mathematics A, Physics A, Chemistry B+, Geography or Biology, or group III or any group IV.
Chemical Engineering
Chemical engineering is a multi -disciplinary branch of engineering that combines natural and experimental sciences (such as chemistry and physics), along with life sciences (such as biology, microbiology and biochemistry) plus mathematics and economics to design, develop, produce, transform, transport, operate and manage the industrial processes that turn raw materials into valuable products.
Chemical Engineering mainly entails:
•Designing, manufacturing and operating plants and machinery for carrying out large-scale industrial chemical, biological or related processes.
•Developing new or adapted substances for a wide range of products.
Requirements to pursue this course ;
Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education Mean grade B (plain) and mean grade for the total score in the four JAB cluster subjects of at lest B (plain) and the following minimum grades in the individual luster subjects: Mathematics B+, Physics B, Chemistry B+, Geography or Biology, or group III or any group IV.
Marine Engineering
This discipline teaches students how to design, develop, and test vehicles and structures that are water borne such as ships, boats, military vessels, submarines, oil rigs and etc. Engineers in this field are also equipped with electrical and mechanical knowledge.
Marine engineers are responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repairs of the mechanical components and equipment onboard a ship.

Telecommunication Engineering
Telecom engineering combines the study of electrical engineering and computer science. The job descriptions of a telecommunications engineer are broad, ranging from basic circuit design to strategic mass developments.
When you study telecommunication engineering, you will be trained to design and oversee the installation of telecom equipment and facilities like complex electronic switching systems, copper wire telephone facilities and fibre optics. Engineers in this field are also responsible for providing high-speed internet data services.

Conclusion
When choosing an Engineering Course,you should consider mostly on the field you are best on. Engineering Jobs are among the highly paying jobs. The Engineering course should also be accreditation by a specific board in a country selected by the government.
What about Aeronautical Engineering? Is it offered in Kenya?
ReplyDeleteYes, in fact there are many other engineering courses offered in Kenya institutions just that only the popular ones were discussed.
DeleteAeronautical Engineering is offered in Technical University Of Kenya(TUK)
Very nice information
ReplyDeleteAppreciated. Any queries visit https://businessadventurebytom.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteAww am enjoying ..the images are
ReplyDeletesweet appetizerr for the next step
I had alot of negativism but now am educated ...cuddos!!!
ReplyDeleteThe images are appetizing for one to go down and archieve what best
They can...respect to all engineers .mother of all smiles😊
